Hello...I am converting a bathroom into a bathroom\laundry room. To do this I need to add hot and cold water supply lines for the washer.

There is a 3/4" cold water supply line and a 1/2" hot water supply line that enter the area I am working in, in the crawl space. There is a sink, toilet and shower that feed off of these hot and cold supply lines.

If I want to add hot and cold water lines for the washing machine, can I tap into any one of the lines feeding the shower or sink, or will I lose pressure by doing this (or any other problems)?

Thank you!

Try to tap into the 3/4" supplies. The more things you have running on a line will eventually cause you to notice a loss of flow. Moral of the story, don't run the washer when you are taking a shower! Might not be that bad, hard to tell. If you don't have a pressure balanced or temperature controlled shower valve, you might want to upgrade it as well as the rapid on/off of the valve in the washer will make itself known.

Jim--thank you for your insight. I will take your suggestions into consideration!

Tim
