Background: tankless oil furnace, forced hot water to cast-iron baseboards, about 50 years old.
Problem: When I turn the kitchen faucet to hot and the water begins to warm, a loud water hammering bang is heard from the basement and the water goes cold almost immediately. Turn the faucet handle to cold then back to hot and the water begins to warm again only to repeat the cycle.
The kitchen faucet is a higher end Price Pfister and is less than 2 years old. I replaced the cartridge last weekend and the problem still exists.
The bathroom tub, bathroom sink and kitchen faucet are all tied into the same hot water line coming from the mixing valve on the back of the furnace. Only the kitchen faucet has the problem. The only identifying marks on the mixing valve is "Temp A Rator".
Any ideas? Need more info? Thanks for any help you can offer.
