hi everyone, i'm tony, new to this forum
i'm laying new tile in my small bathroom, adding 1/2" ply to the subfloor also ditra on top of that( 1/8") and tiles ( 1/4") 7/8" rise total. the closet flange is 1/4" above the present subfloor now, is it ok to use 2 (1/2") stack and seal extensions to make up the diffrence? any advice of what to do will help me big time, i wan't to do it once and do it right. thanks tony.......

If you want it 'right', then take the flange off (this may require cutting some from below), tile, then install the new flange on top of the finished floor. They are designed to sit tight on top of the finished flooring. Adding flange extensions works, but gives you more potential places it can leak. Using multiple wax rings to seal that area is more prone to "blowout" if you get too aggressive with plunging sometime down the road or shifting and blocking things while installing.
