Center of 4" CI soil pipe is 9" from wall, as you can imagine the toilet extends about 2" into the drywall (previous owner built wall around toilet). I purchased an offset closet flange with the hope of fixing this problem, but after measuring it will only extend the reach about 2" and the tank will still back into the wall a little.

Although this is a basement bathroom, it has always driven me crazy looking at this screwed up install - Do I have any options? :(

With a 1" offset you have a 10" rough in, which is a "standard" rough-in, though much less common than 12", which appears to be your current toilet's spec.

So I guess my only options are:

A: purchase a new toilet for a 10" rough in

B: try to move the wall back 1"

c: find an offset closet flange more than 2" (bad idea?)

d: live with my toilet in the wall *sigh*

While nominally 12", your current toilet may possibly be able to squeeze into 11", which you could achieve with a 2" offset. Get out your measuring tape and check the exact distance it requires.

Also, I don't know if you're rounding or if these whole inch measurements are exact. Maybe that 11' you could get would really be 11.2 and make it for you.

Read Terry's answer to the post below for an example of a 12" nominal that fits into 11".

Thanks Ted & Terry, I agree a new 10" RI toilet if probably my best option here. Thing is, either way I have to install the 2" offset which will require me to excavate concrete and cut cast (pipe is already over an 1" too high and original toilet was raised/resting on plywood shim).

Wow, a lot of work - I'm thinking that I might just reinstall original toilet for now and live with a hole in the wall ;)

Appreciate the advice once again, great forums!

Possibilities to explore/consider:

Cut the pipe flush with existing floor if what would remain would allow for flange attachment.
Put down new ceramic tile in mud, or over CBU, to raise the floor.
See if there are any 10" nominal toilets that will actually install in the space you have.
