Hello all,

Is the shower diverter supposed to attach to the framing? If so, how?
The old one has some strapping around it, but this hardly seems secure.
Why don't they put drop ears or mounting holes on these things?

Thanks,
Dave

They're trying to save a buck and may not have much pride in their work.

Not sure what you are describing.

Typically your diverter is part of the valve body, as in a 3 handle shower valve.

Or the diverter is part of the tub spout, which is typically attached to a pipe that is attached to a drop ear 90.

Of course, there is also the kind of diverter that is attached to the shower arm and diverts water to a handheld showerhead. The shower arm is typically attached to a drop ear 90.
