Hi all,

I am sure that this has been asked before so I apologize for a re-peat question.

I have a question about the location of my vapor barrior. I know that the vb should be attached to the wall stud prior to attaching the backer board. Do I attach the vb between the flange and the backer board or do I just let the vb hang straight down the stud walls to the bottom of the floor?

Thanks,

Ray

Depends if you live in the north or the south.

Say the north.

VP or permeability barrier. Stapled toe and top top plate. Fold joints too,
staple and tape.

Dont forget to tape around your elec. boxes too!

Oh.. areas in the south.... the vp is put on the..... outside!

Run the vapor barrier over the tub's flange.

Thanks guys for your help,

By the way, I live in the west. The vb over the flange is what I thought was needed but I was not sure.

Question: I also plan to tile over the ceiling just above the tub. Do I need to put the vb over the stud in the ceiling area also?

Wouldn't hurt, but probably won't help much unless it is a steam shower, then there are a lot more things to consider. One of the best places for tiling questions is www.johnbridge.com (http://www.johnbridge.com). Normally, anything above the showerhead is considered "dry" and painted drywall is acceptable (but not if you are going to tile it!).
