I got a question for you plumbers. What kind of flashlight do you use and have had the best luck with? I have been using maglights and I am on my 3rd one. I save the reciept and carry it back but it's bad when your under a house and your light plays out.

3-battery Maglite. I have dropped them off the roof, left it out in the rain, etc. Can't kill it!

The one I keep having trouble with is the Mag lite 3 AA light. I use it for exploring. I usually finish the job with a light that uses a lantern battery.

I use a Dorcy 1 Watt / 1000 mw head lamp. I have 3 of them. They take 3 AAA batteries. They give more than enough usable light and the batteries last a good long time. The bulb has a lifetime guarantee. The head lamp style allows me to have my hands free.
They are available at Low*s. I haven't found anything better. If you buy one be sure it says 1 Watt on the package.

I've got a bunch of 14.4 volt (XRP) Dewalt tools. So, it was natural to get the pivoting head flashlight that uses the same batteries. Sometimes I forget to turn off a flashlight, and I never have to replace batteries.

handy dandy DEWALT

The mag lights are junk and I have gone through
a few of them

the absolute best way to work is with the

Dewalt flashlight .

you go buy the drill kit at Lowes with 2 re-chargeable batteries
that come with the drill $89.00

then you buy a dewalt flashlinght for 25....

and you have both a sheet metal drill and a good flashlight..

it is a very handy way to get around in crawl spaces without having
to run an extension cord...

I have a mag light which was okay...but didn't give any better service than the $2 flash lights. The best thing I've come across yet for working in cramped spaces is one that I bought for fishing at night. It's an L.E.D. headlight. It uses the large version of watch batteries or something like that. I've used it for several hours and it's still going. I've also got a few of those weird L.E.D. flashlights that I can wind up which are really great because I don't have to worry about batteries or recharging when I'm on my back laying in mud 50' from a crawlspace door. I got a christmas present which was an 18volt skill set of rechargeable tools that has a flashlight. I guess it's okay but definitely awkward.

After going through many many many mini mag lights over the years, I finally got one of these X5 INOVA flashlights. Do yourself a favor and get one. LLED bulbs will never burn out. Thislight is 3 times brighter than the mag light, (mini mag's LED adapter is a joke), and a pair of batteries will last me 2 months with major use. I use my flashlight every day, at least 2-3 times. The CR123 lithium batts are a little pricey, but if you get them on eeebaay, they arent bad.

This is the best flashlight I have ever used, and I own several. I gave them to all my guys last Christmas, and they all love them. Best part... no more burnt out bulbs, no more fumbling in the ppitch black crawlspace trying to change the bulb.

I also have a few other INOVA models, and love them all. Highly recommeded.

^ thanks for the tip...I've actually been using one of my smaller dive lights lately and I'm getting spoiled by the brightness of it's light under a house

but it's too expensive to use for this...I'll check out that LED

For anywhere from $5-$15 you can get the little clip on lights or the LED head lamps that are great for handsfree working. They do not light up large areas but are great for working in dark spaces and lighting up your work. That's why I use them for night fishing when I have to rig my fishing line. I also use them for working on vehicles in the dark.
