Hello everyone!
This is my first time here. I'm hoping to learn alot here and at the same time help others when I can. I've recently started my own Electrical and Plumbing business. I was hoping someone out there would share some information on price lists. Hourly rates, service charges, drain cleaning, panel upgrades, etc. Any information would be very helpful. Thank You

rates

Our rates have absolutely nothing to do what you will have to charge, just as you cannot go by the rates of the plumber down the street from you. Unless you know your costs of doing business, plus your markup and labor income, anything you charge will be a guess, and it could be a guess that puts you out of business if you are too cheap, or too expensive.

If you are licenced and have been in the trade long enough to be on your own I don't understand why you don't have an idea of the approx. going rates in your area.
If you are green then I would suggest you work for someone locally for a while. You will learn much.

I do a little electrical work and do not have a clue how to charge for it or how pricing is done for electrical work... whether it is priced by the foot, by the box, appliance, or just what they do. I do know that we kicked around pricing all last week and for a week or two before on this forum... just scroll down the topics or do a search and you'll find several threads about pricing plumbing. Personally, I'd love to have a flat rate schedule. I've got a price list that my son uses on his job which has been very helpful... I'm lucky to get 60-80% of what they get and since I stay out of the retail tax business and all of it's paperwork and forms and reports... I do not get any markup on parts...but I do figure in my time for shopping.
