I run into quite a bit of PE used for underground water service. I need to find better quality hose clamps for slicing or repairing PE. Any suggestions for brands?

I hope you're not talking about worm gear clamps. Poly really requires crimps. As for brands, we don't see much of it out here, so I am not familiar with brands on that.

Jimbo...

Jimbo,

Not crosslinked PE or PEX I'm referring to the black rolled pipe PE, with stainless steel barbed fittings.

Everything I've seen like that just used regular hose clamps like on heater hoses or radiator hoses. Gates is about as good as I've ever known. I'm sure that in the future I'll run into it again. There's still alot of houses on wells around here.

As long as they are stainless steel clamps, they are all good. Use two per barb, with the nuts opposite each other. Make sure those barbs are stainless and not galvanised. Here, the good guys use brass barbs, the hacks and homeowners use nylon, or galvanised.

Kordts,

Like a lot of things these days, there are a lot of cheap imports out there. I have been breaking alot of them lately by just hand tightening them. I was able to find some good American made all stainless steel clamps today. I have also noticed some are being made with stainless clamps but galavanized screws, which isn't any good for burial use.

Quality hose clamps?

How about fusion welding it. Black poly responds well to fusion welds.
