I had to replace a 30 year old Delta kitchen faucet. Everything was completely corroded and it was a nightmare to try to remove. The biggest problem was trying to remove the 9/16" nuts and large metal washers that secured the faucet to the sink from below. The nuts were totally frozen and rusted. I soaked them in WD-40 and then I got them to turn using a deep socket, but the threaded rods and bolts were turning as well. Finally, I pryed off the rusty faucet from the top and used a grinder on the exposed bolts.
Is there some other way of doing this? Should I have tried a torch on the frozen nuts? Should I have tried to drill through the large washers?
