Plastic shower arm goes round 'n' round

I replaced a shower head in a trailer yesterday and the plastic shower arm seemed very loose, so I tried to tighten it. It never got tight. It just kept turning like it was on a swivel joint. Anyone seen that before? How do you replace it if and when it breaks off?

It may already be broken off. Or something might be because I cannot visualize any proper connection that would not eventually tighten.

Take it out. Wrap a couple of layers of teflon tape on it. If it won't snug down then.... you got a problem.
